How WiCartonize Works: Step-by-Step Cartonization from Order to Box Recommendation

For teams evaluating WiCartonize for the first time, this guide summarizes the clear operations flow from order to pack plan. It focuses on what happens, in what order, and why rather than low-level technical detail.
Step 1: Define products
Create products manually or pull them through integration (for example Shopify). Record length, width, height, and weight for every SKU.
At pack time you can use stored product IDs or inline dimensions on the line; both can appear in the same request.
Step 2: Box library
Define mailers and cartons with inner dimensions; add maxWeight. Outer dimensions are stored for carrier cost projection.
Deactivate unused sizes to narrow the packer’s decision space.
Step 3: Profiles and rules
A packing profile defines which boxes are allowed in a workflow. The rule engine applies fragile, ship-alone, orientation, and mailer-exclusion rules.
You can manage rule sets visually in the workflow editor.
Step 4: Generate a pack plan
Run a plan from the web UI or through integration. Result: package list, fill rate, leftovers, coordinates, and warnings.
The same order should produce a consistent plan when repeated.
Step 5: Review and improve
Validate in 3D with Packing Inspector. Track oversize and leftover trends in pack history; update box sets and rules.

How long until go-live?
Usually weeks with a pilot box set and sample orders; data quality is the main variable.
Is there carrier integration?
MVP focuses on the packing plan; labels and carrier rate shopping are evaluated separately on the roadmap.
